DOG LICENSES
Rules & Procedure
All dogs owned or harbored in the Town of New Lebanon must be vaccinated again rabies. All dogs owned or harbored in the Town of New Lebanon for longer than 30 days must be licensed. Dogs residing in NYC are licensed with the NYC Department of Health and proof of said licensing is required. If a non-resident brings a dog into New york State for less than 30 days, the dog must be licensed according to the resident state’s licensing laws and proof of said licensing is required.
Licenses are issued at the Town Clerk’s Office and renewed annually. A dog license cannot be issued without proof of a valid rabies vaccination. The Town of New Lebanon does offer a three-year license if the license is obtained within 10 days of the current three-year rabies vaccine.
Licensing Procedure:
When: When a dog reaches the age of four (4) months
What to bring/send:
New Licenses:
– a current rabies vaccination certificate,
– proof of spaying or neutering, if applicable, and
– applicable fee payable to Town of New Lebanon.
License Renewals:
– renewal form sent to you,
– a current rabies vaccination certificate, and
– applicable fee payable to Town of New Lebanon.

3-Year License (must be obtained within 10 days of rabies vaccine – refunds are not available):

Senior Discount (Owner Age 60 or older – requires driver’s license or other age verification document):

26+ dogs $100.00
Plus mandatory surcharge of $3.00 per dog ($1.00 for spayed or neutered dogs).
(You may have your veterinarian fax a copy of your dog’s rabies and/or spay/neuter certificate directly to the town clerk’s office at 518-794-9694. The clerk issuing the license must see the certificate, do not fill in the information yourself. If mailed, all original documents will be returned to you.)
